Christmas and Boxing day haul!

Hi hi,  Sally here.

Yay I've got a cold... in the summer... just woke up with it this morning so I'm not feeling too well but anyway, there's no stopping me from blogging. How was your Christmas? Mine was nice, just stayed at home but very relaxing none the less.

For Christmas I got a new lens for my camera! The Nikkor AF-S 55 - 300mm! Yay! Now I can take some lovely snazzy outdoor shots without having to crop them on my computer. Also I got a lovely pink case for my Kindle and some new Yumiko leotards for dance which have yet to come but should be here any day.

The week before Christmas, I visited Sydney and met up with some old friends. I also visited the Madame Tussauds wax museum there which was so much fun! Here are some snaps from my visit there.

On the Boxing Day sales I made a few purchases from Myer and Zara.
1. Rum Raisin Lipstick by Revlon which I think is a great dupe for Mac's Twig.
2. Really Red Lipstick by Revlon which is a matte finish.
3. Revlon's eyeshadow quad in Addictive which are some nice neutral colours.

So that is it for now! I'm going to Canada for 3 weeks next week so I'll take lots of pictures and post them when I get back! Hope you're all well and Happy New Year! xx

My Top Four Uses of Coconut Oil!

Hello all, it's Jules here!

Wow it's actually been a really long while... I know that I keep saying that at the start of every post, but I've just been so incredibly busy :(
So much has actually happened in my life, from acing my first set of college exams (yayy!), to girlfriend gossip sessions, to boyy drama ;)

But anywho, I'm here to tell you about my top four uses for coconut oil! At first I didn't really give in to all the hype about it, and also cos for some ridiculous reason they sell it for reaaaaally expensive at my local pharmacy. But the other day I found it at this organic grocery store for a lot cheaper! Since I got it, I've been using it a TON and I have no idea how I ever lived without it!

1. Moisturiser
Coconut oil is an amazing moisturiser, and with the dry winter air, it's great to have a moisturiser that a) smells amazing and b) is all natural! I've found that natural products work the best for me, that includes my apple-based shampoo, banana shampoo (from the body shop, it's so hydrating!) and honey-cinnamon facemask to kill sudden hormonal acne.

2. Hair Mask
Like I said before, coconut oil is incredibly hydrating, but you can also use it for your hair! Use about a spoonful for your entire head of hair, leave it in for about 10 minutes then shower as normal. I found that my hair is softer and shinier, and definitely less brittle in this dry winter weather! Another great tip is to use a teensy amount on clean hair. It acts as a leave in conditioner, keeps the static from raising your frizzy baby hairs and also is more natural and hydrating than a product that you would use. Be careful to not use too much or you'll end up looking like a slimeball!

3. Body Scrub
You will be amazed by the results of simply using coconut oil and sugar on your skin. About a spoonful of coconut oil to a packet of sugar will do- mix it up well, and rub onto your skin. I find that it's best to do this inside your shower so grains of sugar don't fall everywhere- you don't want soft skin with a side of a roach infestation! I like to do this if I know that I'll shave my legs- I'll hop inside the shower, scrub my legs with this body scrub, shower like normal then shave my legs at the end. It'll result in a much closer shave... that means no stubble!

4. Fades Discoloration
I have horrible acne scarring from before- I think it was because of the stress of exams + hormonal breakouts (booo). Skin discoloration is because of an excess of melanin production in that one particular area of skin cells. So, I found that using coconut oil really helps with fade the discoloration and also improve my overall skin tone. I'd much rather use less foundation/ concealer and invest my time and effort into my natural skin. But, since I have oily skin, I use this suuuuper sparingly otherwise my skin would break out!

All in all, I found that coconut oil is amaaaazing for day to day use- I don't know how I ever survived without it! I'm sure that there are much more uses for this everything-in-a-jar product. No more splurging on expensive skincare products! It's always such a disappointment when an expensive product is a let down :(

Julsie signing off for now, love you! xoxox

Priceline (beauty) Haul

Hello there my friends, it's Sally here!

A few weeks ago in Priceline (a pharmacy) there was a big sale and all make up was 40% off! Yay! So I made a trip there and bought a few things tested them out and thought I'd share them with you and what my opinions are on the products.

1. Real Techniques Powder Brush

Wow this brush is good. I had a really dodge cheap one before this because I didn't think having a good brush would make a difference. Eventually that brush began to fall apart and I kept having to pick the little hairs off my face.I though enough was enough and got a new brush. Definitely do not regret this purchase and I look forward to getting more brushes from Real Techniques.

2. Essie Nail Varnish

I've really been liking Essie Nail polish more lately. I like how thin the consistency is so it dries faster and lasts longer. These two colours looked really pretty so I got them haha! Typical girly answer. They are in the shades Marshmellow and Limo-scene.

3. Bourjois 1 Seconde Gel Enamel

This stuff is good. It's also quite cheap which made me question how good it would be. I bought this because I had a school formal and my dress was blue so I wanted matching nails. The brush is quite wide so I could paint my nails very quickly. Apparently that's why it's called 1 second, because of the time it takes to paint each nail. This is in the shade, Bleu Water.

4. Rimmel Apocalips

This is in the shade Stellar. I really like this stuff. The pigmentation is so good and it's not sticky like a lip gloss which makes me happy. It appears quite glossy when you apply it but eventually tones down when it dries, not to a matte but not as shiny. The smell and taste is pleasant and hardly noticeable too. I would highly recommend this product, one of Rimmels best lip products!

5. Maybelline Illegal Length

I got this in the waterproof formula. The wand is much smaller than the cover girl wands which I really like. I'm not too sure of this mascara yet though, sure it adds a tiny bit of length but it lacks volume and the product seems to dry so I keep having to dip my brush in for more. Not too impressed but it's good for more natural looking lashes.

6. Rimmel Match Perfection

Okay, I think I'm definitely a Rimmel girl. This foundation is perfection. I have combination skin and this stuff is so good! It's got I'd say a medium coverage which can be build able. It doesn't smell too scented. I was a little worried about how runny it was but it works and makes my skin look good so I'm happy!

7. Maybelline Color Tattoo

Wow it was weird to write color because I spell it as colour. Theses to shades are called, Bad to the Bronze and Inked in Pink. These are very similar to the Mac Paint Pots in fact these actually work better for me personally because the Mac Paint Pots creased on me a bit. I know some people are the opposite so I guess you just have to experiment but I'm excited to get these in more shades!

8. Rimmel Kate Moss 107

These Kate Moss lipsticks are up there! These shade is my favourite out of all the ones I own! I think it's perfect for winter or autumn! The Kate Moss lipsticks last a long time and have really good pigmentation! I also like the packaging. I hope Rimmel keeps releasing more of these!

9. Lanterns!

These are actually from Typo. I've wanted some for ages but didn't know where to put them but I finally had an idea. They make my room feel so cosy and I really want more. They were easy to put together and I just love them so much! How cute do they look?

So that's all for now. I hope you're all well! It's officially summer here now so it's getting rather warm! Until next time, love! xxx

Juliana's Updates

Hey all!
Omg I'm so sorry that we're never posting... I'm battling my way through final exams before the end of my semester. Okay well I'm not gonna lie there's always been some partying there as well but I promise I've been good ;)

I thought I might update you guys! So much has happened, not just school-wise, but also friendship drama and gossip!

My 18th Birthday:

So I turned 18 three weeks ago! I'm so excited, I'm finally legal. And no, it's not like I crazily abused my coming of age and went partying... I'm excited cos I can get a credit card and do some serious online shopping. #firstworldproblems.
Since my birthday is so close to halloween, my friends and I decided to just celebrate it on the night of halloween instead. We were too busy with college work and couldn't afford to go out twice in a week. I didn't exactly dress up; I had class earlier in the day, but I just wore my friend's sombrero (at the back!) cos I'm kinda really small and I would get lost in the crowd. Wow this post is turning out to be kinda sad.

Old Uni, New Uni?

Some of you may know that I quit the first uni that I was accepted into, because I was accepted into another uni for Year 2 to major in Psychology. That meant skipping freshman year of college entirely. But, I've made some amazing friends from the first uni, from my classes and from living in the uni halls, so I go back every now and then.
Here I am at a hall "GPA Dinner"- it's a hall tradition where there's a dinner to wish everyone good luck for their final exams.
P.S those are our matching-hoodies! Our floor (10th floor) is called "Goddesses" so we all got hoodies with our logo/ name on it!

Meeting up with friends:

I finally got to meet up with my high school friend! We've both been really busy, and we could finally sync our schedules to actually meet up! We went for a really nice dinner (Pepper Lunch!) and did some shopping at forever 21.
How Christmassy are the shop decorations! This is a little skincare shop in Causeway Bay.

Okay so I'm gonna go hit the books, 4 quizzes coming up :(
I hope you all are doing great, and take care of yourselves with the cold weather coming up. Students out there- keep working hard for the end of term/ semester, Christmas holidays are coming up soon!

Oh my gosh I'm back!

Wow, this is weird. This is very weird! Why? Because Sally's back!

I just finished my VCE and I am back up and running! What a stressful time! Anyway, during this time it is also safe for me to say, life hasn't been very exciting. I haven't been on any hauls or bought anything very exciting except for a formal dress because it's my school formal next weekend! I'll be sure to post pictures of it next week when I blog again. I haven't played any games or read any exciting books apart from my english books for VCE.

Yesterday I began reading 'Perks of being a Wallflower' as I really want to see the movie because Emma Watson's in it but I have a thing about reading the book before the movie. Also I'm very excited that the movie, 'Catching Fire' is coming out!

A couple of weeks ago, my friends and I decided to go to the beach one weekend for a little relaxation time. Unfortunately, I forgot to put sunscreen on my right shoulder and it got very burnt. Even now, there is still a bit of an awkward tan.

Then it was Melbourne Cup long weekend. It was nice to get a long weekend! Instead of going to the races what did I do? Go to Myer and try on all the hats. Some of them were lovely and others were a bit ridiculous. I saw one of the male workers at Myer trying on the hats when no one was looking. He noticed me looking at him and said 'shh don't tell anyone!' Very funny!

Tomorrow is suppose to be 28 degrees which should be nice! The weather here has been absolutely crazy! 30 degrees to literally 10 degrees!

The other day was the Victorias Secret Fashion Show! Wow all the models were beautiful! My favourites: Karlie Kloss, Jourdan Dunn, Sui He and Lily Aldridge. Also Adriana Lima is breath taking! Candice looked gorgeous in the Fantasy Bra. Can't say it was the best VSFS though. There have been better ones in the past. I do miss Miranda Kerr on the runway though and I can't believe her and Orlando Bloom broke up! I thought they were the perfect couple and I wanted them to have more perfect babies like Flynn!
To finish up my post, here's a little picture I recently took of my cat, Luka! Very cute!

Don't worry, I will definitely be posting again next week! Be sure to follow me on Instagram: Sally_the_Cat

'Till then, hoping you're all well! xx

Update and Current Obsessions!

Hey hey y'all, it's Julsie here :)

So I've been absolutely dying under all my school work- just a quick update, I got offered into a university to do the 5 year Translation programme, which I accepted the offer and moved into the dorms, but in my first week of school I got offered into another university into Year 2, to study Psychology for a total of 3 years. I took up the offer, because Translation wasn't what I thought it would be- Its just plainly chinese-english translation and I've been doing that my whole life (multicultural probs) so I found it really boring.
So to sum it up, I basically skipped the first year of university, and will graduate at 20. No pressure, right? Lol.
But I'm knee deep in mid-terms so far, but thankfully, like the typical asian, I've been getting straight As.... yet here I am blogging instead of studying. Awks.

I finally got to post my first video on Youtube! Check it out below @LittleMissJuliana! Please support me and hit like and subscribe and leave me a comment, it means a lot! :))

Beauty obsessions:

I've been absolutely obsessed with my new MAC Blacktrack Fluidline. I got it the other day because my old Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner was drying up, and I really wanted to amp up my everyday look with a winged eyeliner. If you guys follow me on twitter @MissJulianaYu, then you know that I simply adore my kohl eyeliners from Rimmel but it's not as practical as it's just so smooth and creamy that it'll smudge if I tried to wing it out.

I've been really liking the Sinful Colors nail polish in the shade Snow Me White. It's such a perfect white to enhance a tan and it doesn't look tacky like tippex on your nails. It's not a cream-based white, nor is it a bluey white, but doesn't look dodgy at all. Love, love, love!

I'm so obsessed with the MAC Plum Foolery blush. It's a gorgeous shade of plum, with a hint of sheen. But, coming from an oily skin-ed gal it's nothing major, it just looks like a satin finish. I love finishing my look off with a plum-shade blush and a rosey lipgloss- the perfect transition look from summer to fall. It's actually still really warm in Hong Kong so I've been living my fall-season dreams through my makeup and fashion. Thankfully all the lecture halls in uni have the air con blasting.
Stupid story: Once I got so excited cos I was actually kinda chilly, and was so excited that fall in Hong Kong exists (it's usually too humid for fall!) but after 5 minutes I realised my air conditioner was on... #awkward much.

Last, but definitely not least is the L'oreal Shine Caresse lip gloss. I'm especially liking the shade 606 Lolita, which I've heard is only available in Asia. So come to Asia or get your friends to ship it to you, it's so worth it! It's the perfect doll-like pink, but nothing too extravagant. It's natural looking and is the perfect summer-to-fall transition shade!

That's it for all my beauty obsessions now, definitely check them out if you get a chance to! Love you all and miss you!

Internet Fails, Nike and Pokemon!

Hi All! It's Sally here!

Apologies for not blogging! My modem decided to never turn on again after a year of being slightly faulty so it was finally time to get a new one which took some time to install but I'm back and all is up and running!

So along with my internet breaking down, my runners or sport shoes whatever you call them decided to start cutting into my heel. I had them for 2 years which is quite a long life for runners so I thought it was finally time to get a new pair and got myself the Nike Free Run 5.0! Wow they are so light and comfortable! I'm so happy with my decision! Although I don't run much they're a comfortable walking shoe or doing whatever exercise you please shoe and they come in some great designs and colours. I got mine in purple again!

This weekend while my internet was down, Pokemon X and Y were released! I bought Pokemon X for no reason in particular and I've played it for like 20 hours already! Best Pokemon of the series yet in my opinion. I'd highly recommend picking it up if you're a Pokemon fan or looking for something new to play. On my team so far I've got:
1. Delphix (Level 56)
2. Pikachu (Level 45)
3. Panpour (Level 47)
4. Lucario (Level 45)
5. Sylveon (Level 46)
6. Charizard (Level 48)
Pikachu and my Sylveon are so cute! So were all the others but then they evolved in to majestic creatures!

From Nintendo Website
Anyway, hope you're all well and living life to the fullest!
Love Sally. x

Fall Fashion and Makeup Essentials!

Hi all,

Since the Fall season is coming up fast, I've been going crazy with Fall fashion and makeup essentials, just to live this Fall to the max #youtuberprobs

Alas, here are my Fall essentials:

Fashion:

1. Chunky Sweaters
Chunky Sweaters are a definite must-have for fall; it's great to cozy up in by the couch, or really practical for those breezy-but-not-really days. What's the downside to looking fashionable yet huggable?!

2. Olive, olive, olive!
Olive is a super trendy colour this Fall, and you don't have to dress head to toe in green to be trendy. Just incorporate some olive-shaded accents into your outfit to stay super on-trend this Fall!

3. Fall boots
Um okay can I just express my love for leather boots in Fall... They look super cute with just jeans and a t shirt, or you can layer higher socks with it so your socks peek out from under your boots. Leather boots are such a classic for Fall, whether it's heeled, flat, tall or ankled, LOVE.

Makeup:

1. Rose Coloured Blush
Rose coloured blush looks great with the earthy tones of Fall, and with the darker months coming up, a rosy pink blush can really brighten up your face.

2. Glowy Skin
Glowy skin is again, super in this Fall season, but lezzbehonest when would you rather have dull looking skin......?
Luminizing products such as highlighters and products with reflective properties can brighten up your skin tone in these duller months, despite the drier skin and darker outfits!

3. Flirty Lashes
I absolutely adore bold, flirty lashes. It opens up the eyes and makes everything so much more fun! The only issue that I have is, when I find a really great mascara (ahem, Covergirl Lashblast, ahem), I'm there sitting in class, and my eyelid tickles because when I look up to take notes, my lashes brushes against my eyelids. First world problems much....

Okay and I'm just throwing this out there since we're on the topic of Fall, but I'm abso-freakin-lutely obsessed with the Starbucks Salted Caramel Mocha. It is just beautiful.

So thats it, my Fall fashion and makeup (and drink!) essentials this Fall. Leave me a comment as to what your favourite Fall things are, or tweet me at @MissJulianaYu anytime!

Love,
Julsie xx

Makeup Haul and a Very Happy Sally!

Oh hello! It's Sally here!

On Friday, I had a practise 3 hours English exam which was absolute torture. On that day however, there was a Boost Challenge where you had to wrap yourself in foil so 2 of my friends and I went to the local supermarket, bought some foil which was $1.50 and wrapped ourselves in foil and showed up at Boost! It was very rewarding but a bit embarrassing getting a Boost for 50c! Afterwards, I thought I might treat myself a little since I did just write three essays (9 pages worth of writing!) so I went to Price-line pharmacy to have a look at their make up.

 This is what I bought:

Rimmel
So we all know how much I loved the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder and Kate Moss Lipstick in 106. Since those two purchases, I decided that I really liked Rimmel and went ahead to buy the Rimmel Natural Bronzer in Sun Glow and another Kate Moss Lipstick in 12. 12 is an orangey sort of colour. I was going to buy one from Mac but I thought if the orange didn't suite me I would have wasted a whole lot of money. Then... I noticed that if you bought $15 worth of Rimmel you got a free gift which consisted of a waterproof Scandal Eyes mascara, a lip gloss and a blue eye liner. Yay! I always wanted a blue eye liner but didn't know whether or not I could pull it off but now I got one for free I can say there is no harm in trying it and I can safely say, I love Rimmel!

Bourjois
Then I headed over to the Bourjois section. Actually I didn't even know Australia sold Bourjois so I was pleasantly surprised! I decided I needed a foundation since, shock horror *insert inside joke* I don't have any. I heard lots of people raving on about the Bourjois foundations so I decided to get myself one since it was quite a good price as well and I didn't want too much coverage. Then I saw they had the Color Boost Sticks which are basically a copy of the Clinique Chubby Sticks but half price so I got myself one in a nice red! I tried it on and wow I love that stuff! It's so moisturising and has good pigmentation at the same time! Very happy that I found that! While I was at that counter, I noticed Bourjois had a sign too, if you bought more that $20 worth you got a free gift! What a lucky day! The gift consisted of a lovely blush which is so pigmented as well and a primer. The primer does make your skin feel very smooth and soft but I'm not sure how much I will use it as I'm not too keen on layering more and more products on my face. Perhaps I will use it for only very special occasions.

 Other random stuff
I heard a lot about Beauty Blenders but I wasn't too sure where to buy them apart from online but I noticed Maybelline was selling a copy of one in purple so I bought it and I can say it's a very good buy! Although I can't compare it to the original, it does its job well so far. Then I bought an SPF for my face since the Australian Sun should be coming out soon and I don't want to get burnt. Lastly Essie recently got introduced into Australia so I bought two nail polishes from their range which was rather small as Australia is only selling their top colours.

I'll film a review later of all the things I bought on Friday and post it up after I've used them for sometime and have enough information for you. For now I can say that I'm very happy with all the freebies I got! Hope you're all well and I'll talk to you next time. If you haven't done so, check out my YouTube channel; http://www.youtube.com/user/MeowSally !

Too Faced Natural Eye Palette

So um, again, I'm really really sorry for the delayed posts- both Sally and I are knee deep in work and school things, plus personal life issues :/

But on a brighter note, I have a new review for you guys! (Drum roll please....) The Too Faced Natural Eye Palette! At university, everyone here has really natural makeup, if any, and as a makeup crazed person, of course I'd be pulling off all sorts makeup that I can get away with whilst looking as natural as possible.
With some light nudes, taupes, and light pinks with a sheen, you can do a super natural eye makeup, but with the dark browns and shimmery bronze/golds, you can easily amp this up into a night out look.

As you all know, I'm off at college, and this palette has just been my life saver. It's one of the only eyeshadows that I bought with me, and it has everything I can possibly need. It comes with 9 natural shades of eyeshadow, but it includes some shimmery and even a BAM sparkly one. Like what. That's just me in a palette.

Left to Right: Heaven,  Velvet Revolver, Sexpresso, Silk Teddy, Push- Up, Erotica, Nude Beach, Honey Pot, Cocoa Puff

As you can see from the photo above, there are three rows: "Day", "Night" and "Fashion", and this palette has a secret compartment which holds three cards that teaches you the three looks, if you're a beginner and don't know where to start. The cards slips in in the flappy part of the palette, so you can even carry those cheat sheets with you!

I've been absolutely loving this palette, as there are a ton of college events and nights out, so I'd be amping up my eye makeup, but also eyeshadows appropriate for class.
Leave me a message as to what you think about it, or tweet me at @MissJulianaYu!

Love, from Juju xoxo
