Update On My Life and Your Tea Tiny Tea Teatox!

Hi guess what.
I'm still alive.

Sorry for the lack of posts (for about 4 months!) I've been on a bit of a hiatus to get my life together. If you guys don't follow me on social media (YouTubeTwitter, etc) I recently took up a new major in Biology, so now I'm a double major student! Cue the late nights and ramen.
I was a bit overwhelmed with all the unnecessary drama in my life, so I quit my job, took up yoga, and ditched all the petty social life-related drama in my life. It's an understatement to say that I'm in a happy place right now.

Along with my fresh start, I decided to try out a detox. I wasn't sure how I felt about juice cleanses, since you wouldn't be able to eat or drink any thing but juice during the period of time.

A) I don't think my parents would be very happy about that
B) I don't want to pass out from hunger during class
C) It's the end of the semester which means exams and assignments. I need my energy.

I heard about Your Tea through Instagram (ps follow me at littlemissjuliana!) and there were many success stories of their most popular tea, the "Tiny Tea Teatox" which reduces bloating, increases digestion, improves your skin and amps up your energy levels. I also liked how you didn't have to ditch regular foods, unlike other juice cleanses. I decided to try out their 14 Day Tiny Tea, and I'm on Day 4 today.

First of all, I would like to clarify that I'm not drinking this to lose weight, but to lose excess water weight and to get more fluids in my body. I have always struggled with my weight, and now instead of thinking "I want to be skinny", my mantra is "I want to be healthy". I've started to eat cleaner and healthier too. This tea obviously won't work in slimming down your figure if you'll stuff yourself with your daily McDonalds whilst drinking this tea.

The packaging is heaps cute. Pink is probably the answer to every girl's heart.
Some people say that the taste is a bit weird. I usually add a squirt of honey in my cup of tea, but I'm fairly used to the flavour cos my mum always makes Asian teas and medicine and other herbally stuff.

You're supposed to have this tea 30 mins before or after every meal. It says two a day but it's apparently a typo- it's supposed to be three cups a day. I usually make it in my Lilly Pulitzer thermal cup and have it on the way to uni, and have breakfast when I get there. One downside is, every now and then I might oversleep and skip breakfast entirely, so I'm still unsure as to whether or not I should still drink it on an empty stomach.

I've already noticed that my stomach is a bit flatter and I'm less bloated. I'm not sure if it's fully because of the tea, since I've been eating healthy, working out more and drinking more fluids. I also drink a lot less coffee (which I usually put 3 sugars in) and I have a lot of energy from this tea.

So far, I'm really liking it, and I'll do a full review on my YouTube channel once I'm finished with the 14 days.
If you watch it per this blog post recommendation, be sure to let me know in the comments of that video!
See y'all soon xxx

Roses de Chloé Perfume Review

As I am waiting for my nails to dry (Angel Food by Essie) at 1 in the morning, I thought I would do a little blog post! #insomniaprobs

I was on the hunt for a new scent for this spring time. I mean, I'm 18, in college, my first spring as an adult. So obviously I needed a new perfume. Like duh, right? ;)
Or probably I just needed a new excuse for a new perfume haha.

But anyways, I was sashaying around Colormix, a popular pharmacy here in Hong Kong, the bottles of Chloé perfume caught my eye. I've always loved the packaging of Chloé perfumes, but I always thought that it was way too high end for a high schooler, so never really bothered giving it a sniff. But, as I mentioned before, it's my first spring as an adult so why not? #moreexcuseslol

I remember watching a YouTube review on the Roses de Chloé perfume, how it literally just smells like roses, and what better way to welcome the spring season than with a floral perfume? So I gave it a sniff and fell absolutely in love.

It's light, floral, but not a powdery floral like the ones grandmas smell like, but it's a fresh, slightly sweet rose floral scent, as the name suggests. It simply reminds me of light strolls down the cobblestone roads of Paris as I walk past the Parisian florist.
Did I describe it with too much imagination?
Probably.
Even the packaging looks sophisticated and amazing.

A little bit goes a very long way with this. I usually spritz it on my wrists, on my neck and a little bit in my hair. I like the idea of smelling it when I just happen to toss my hair or when the wind blows.
I squirt some of this into my Travalo so that I can pop it into my pencil case, because:
a) I have incredibly long school days (try 9am to 7pm!) and
b) I'm not going to throw an expensive bottle of perfume at the bottom of my purse.

But, despite that, the lasting power is fairly long. I'd say that it lasts about 4-6 hours, but I wouldn't know for sure because it's kinda hard to sniff your wrists subtly when you're out in public.

I purchased the 50mL bottle, and I think it's the perfect size. If it's too small of a bottle, i.e the 25mL, then it wouldn't look as cute, and same goes for the 75mL.
Overall, I would give this a great two thumbs up, three if I had an extra limb. This is definitely my go-to perfume to get me through my last couple weeks of the semester, and another plus side is it looks great on my bedside table!

Benefit Gimme Brow Review

I'm absolutely dying to share this exciting new purchase with you all! It's the Benefit Gimme Brow in Medium Deep! This has had a lot of hype in the YouTube community, as well as the makeup blogging community, so I thought I might throw mine into the pool!

Benefit describes this as:

This innovative brush-on fiber gel adheres to skin & hair... creating brows before where there were none. It builds easily for thick, lushes arches, thanks to a tapered brush for blending & precision tip for shaping.

It is:
> Water resistant
> Long-wearing
> Natural-looking
> Buildable

Firstly can I just say that the packaging is so incredibly cute: it has a parallelogram prism shape, with light pink polka dots on it. Benefit has done it again with the girly packaging that's just to die for. It also envelopes the product instead, so it won't get squished if you have to travel long distances to get home, or if you like having massive purses like I do!
I purchased this in the shade Medium Deep, since I have dark brown hair. The other shade they have is Light Medium, which is aimed for those blonde hair gals (and guys!) out there :)

This teensy little tube is sold at $22 USD, but retails in Hong Kong for $220 HKD. It's definitely not a cheap product but a little bit of an affordable splurge for the average broke college girl!

One Benefit (see what I did there? lol bad pun) of this product is that since it's really tiny, you can easily throw it into your makeup bag, or if you're not bothered to carry one, you can toss it into your wallet without it bulging. From the Benefit website, it teaches you to apply the product in "short pressing motions, stroke brush tip along brow to define shape. Comb through to blend & build brows. For the most natural look, start at the inner edge of your brow and move outward. Repeat to add more volume"

This is definitely one of those buildable products. If you feel like a natural look, you can easily stroke this a couple of times through and you're good to go; or if you're feeling like Cara Delevingne and her famous bold brows, you can keep building to create more volume.

One thing I found with this is that this product looks natural even if it's built up. It's microfibers within the product makes the product act like a mascara for your brows!

If you want an extra oomph to your brows, you can apply a highlighter just under your brow bone to really lift your brows and open up your eyes. I just swipe that under my brows when I apply my normal face highlighter.

The brush itself is a tiny little spooly, with about 5 rungs to it. It's like a teensy little mascara wand, with the little microfibers between each rung so that when you run it through your brow hairs, the fiber-gel will cling to your skin and eyebrow hair.

The conical shape of the spooly is great because it really lets you perfect the shape of your arch without any difficulty, which is awesome for if you're in a rush. Because of this product, I can have my eyebrows done within the minute, which is a lot faster than having to fill in your brows with a powder and having to carefully have the pigment equal on both sides.

I used to neglect my brows because I always thought that it would take ages to fill in my brows every morning, and that it might clog up the pores in my brows and cause my eyebrow hairs to fall off, but so far, it's looking good!
Since this is a long lasting product, I wouldn't recommend scrubbing harshly on your brows when you take your makeup off. I've made that mistake before and lost a couple brow hairs along the way :(

Stay tuned for my post next week about the Benefit Rockateur blush. I only got it yesterday so I don't think a blog post today would do it justice since I have to try it enough times to review it!

Juliana Yu: 13 Personal Questions Tag!

Hi all, I saw this and it seemed quite fun so I thought I'd do it for y'all to get to know me a bit better!

1. What do you order at Starbucks?

I have this down to the science.

If I'm feeling healthy: Skinny caramel latte (100 calories!)
If it's hot: Java Chip frappucino (caffeinated) or Caramel Cream frappucino (no-coffee = no teeth stains!)
If it's a fall-kinda-day: Pumpkin Spice Latte but if it's not the fall season then a Latte with a pump of chai and a pump of white chocolate mocha, it tastes the same!

2. What's one thing in your closet you can't live without?

My blouses! They go with jeans, jeggings, leggings, and any type of shorts.

3. What's the one thing that most people don't know about you?

I'm an avid pianist, been playing since I was 4. I'm aiming for my diploma level next year. If I pass it, then I'm an official concert pianist!
(My favourite type of music to play are Chopin's nocturnes! The Chopin Nocturne Op.9 No.1 is to die for)

4. What's the one thing you want to do before you die?

Find a soul mate. I don't mean date more or be in more relationships or get married or anything, but an actual person that I'm genuinely destined to be with. I guess I've just watched too many rom coms!

5. What's one food you can't live without?

Pizza. I'm breaking the Chinese stereotype hahaha :')
I'd also say chocolate but it's not exactly food it's just a type of dessert/sweet/junk food.

6. What's one quote that you live your life by?

"Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times. If one only remembers to turn on the light"
- Albus Dumbledore.

It reminds me that I can control my own happiness and nothing can stop me from achieving what I want in life. Also that Hogwarts will always be there to welcome me home #jkrowlingisqueen

7. What do you like and dislike about the YouTube community?

Like: It's really easy to make new friends from around the world, I've made quite a few already!

Dislike: The YouTube community sometimes acts like the youtuber with the most expensive, high-quality camera has the best videos. It may be true, since good editing comes from experience, but people seem to be forgetting that everyone started off with a bad quality video that was filmed in their room.

8. What's your number one song on your iPod/iTunes?

Anything country. I love country music. But I especially like anything by Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton and Florida Georgia Line.

9. What kind of style would you describe yourself as having?

Comfortable but classic and slightly preppy.

10. Favourite number?

Anything even... because I've got OCD.

11. Two hobbies?

Baking and working out! Shopping comes in really close as well hehe

12. Two pet peeves?

I absolutely hate it when people chew loudly and/or with their mouths open. No one wants to see what your mushed food looks like okay can you not.

I also hate it when people do that leg-shakey thing when they're fidgeting. I see it from the corner of my eye and it drives me mad it's as if there's an earthquake that I'm not part of can you just not.

13. Your guilty pleasure?

Watching TV in bed with some sort of junk food.... it's usually a show from the CW or something like Rich Kids of Beverly Hills that I've totally been loving. It's exactly how me and my friend E act without spending as much money as them (I wish!)

So that's all for tonight, I'm gonna um... curl up in bed and watch some TV with chocolate chips... awks.
Feel free to do this questions tag and I'll write again next week!

Update and Current Obsessions!

Hey hey y'all, it's Julsie here :)

So I've been absolutely dying under all my school work- just a quick update, I got offered into a university to do the 5 year Translation programme, which I accepted the offer and moved into the dorms, but in my first week of school I got offered into another university into Year 2, to study Psychology for a total of 3 years. I took up the offer, because Translation wasn't what I thought it would be- Its just plainly chinese-english translation and I've been doing that my whole life (multicultural probs) so I found it really boring.
So to sum it up, I basically skipped the first year of university, and will graduate at 20. No pressure, right? Lol.
But I'm knee deep in mid-terms so far, but thankfully, like the typical asian, I've been getting straight As.... yet here I am blogging instead of studying. Awks.

I finally got to post my first video on Youtube! Check it out below @LittleMissJuliana! Please support me and hit like and subscribe and leave me a comment, it means a lot! :))

Beauty obsessions:

I've been absolutely obsessed with my new MAC Blacktrack Fluidline. I got it the other day because my old Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner was drying up, and I really wanted to amp up my everyday look with a winged eyeliner. If you guys follow me on twitter @MissJulianaYu, then you know that I simply adore my kohl eyeliners from Rimmel but it's not as practical as it's just so smooth and creamy that it'll smudge if I tried to wing it out.

I've been really liking the Sinful Colors nail polish in the shade Snow Me White. It's such a perfect white to enhance a tan and it doesn't look tacky like tippex on your nails. It's not a cream-based white, nor is it a bluey white, but doesn't look dodgy at all. Love, love, love!

I'm so obsessed with the MAC Plum Foolery blush. It's a gorgeous shade of plum, with a hint of sheen. But, coming from an oily skin-ed gal it's nothing major, it just looks like a satin finish. I love finishing my look off with a plum-shade blush and a rosey lipgloss- the perfect transition look from summer to fall. It's actually still really warm in Hong Kong so I've been living my fall-season dreams through my makeup and fashion. Thankfully all the lecture halls in uni have the air con blasting.
Stupid story: Once I got so excited cos I was actually kinda chilly, and was so excited that fall in Hong Kong exists (it's usually too humid for fall!) but after 5 minutes I realised my air conditioner was on... #awkward much.

Last, but definitely not least is the L'oreal Shine Caresse lip gloss. I'm especially liking the shade 606 Lolita, which I've heard is only available in Asia. So come to Asia or get your friends to ship it to you, it's so worth it! It's the perfect doll-like pink, but nothing too extravagant. It's natural looking and is the perfect summer-to-fall transition shade!

That's it for all my beauty obsessions now, definitely check them out if you get a chance to! Love you all and miss you!

Makeup Haul and a Very Happy Sally!

Oh hello! It's Sally here!

On Friday, I had a practise 3 hours English exam which was absolute torture. On that day however, there was a Boost Challenge where you had to wrap yourself in foil so 2 of my friends and I went to the local supermarket, bought some foil which was $1.50 and wrapped ourselves in foil and showed up at Boost! It was very rewarding but a bit embarrassing getting a Boost for 50c! Afterwards, I thought I might treat myself a little since I did just write three essays (9 pages worth of writing!) so I went to Price-line pharmacy to have a look at their make up.

 This is what I bought:

Rimmel
So we all know how much I loved the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder and Kate Moss Lipstick in 106. Since those two purchases, I decided that I really liked Rimmel and went ahead to buy the Rimmel Natural Bronzer in Sun Glow and another Kate Moss Lipstick in 12. 12 is an orangey sort of colour. I was going to buy one from Mac but I thought if the orange didn't suite me I would have wasted a whole lot of money. Then... I noticed that if you bought $15 worth of Rimmel you got a free gift which consisted of a waterproof Scandal Eyes mascara, a lip gloss and a blue eye liner. Yay! I always wanted a blue eye liner but didn't know whether or not I could pull it off but now I got one for free I can say there is no harm in trying it and I can safely say, I love Rimmel!

Bourjois
Then I headed over to the Bourjois section. Actually I didn't even know Australia sold Bourjois so I was pleasantly surprised! I decided I needed a foundation since, shock horror *insert inside joke* I don't have any. I heard lots of people raving on about the Bourjois foundations so I decided to get myself one since it was quite a good price as well and I didn't want too much coverage. Then I saw they had the Color Boost Sticks which are basically a copy of the Clinique Chubby Sticks but half price so I got myself one in a nice red! I tried it on and wow I love that stuff! It's so moisturising and has good pigmentation at the same time! Very happy that I found that! While I was at that counter, I noticed Bourjois had a sign too, if you bought more that $20 worth you got a free gift! What a lucky day! The gift consisted of a lovely blush which is so pigmented as well and a primer. The primer does make your skin feel very smooth and soft but I'm not sure how much I will use it as I'm not too keen on layering more and more products on my face. Perhaps I will use it for only very special occasions.

 Other random stuff
I heard a lot about Beauty Blenders but I wasn't too sure where to buy them apart from online but I noticed Maybelline was selling a copy of one in purple so I bought it and I can say it's a very good buy! Although I can't compare it to the original, it does its job well so far. Then I bought an SPF for my face since the Australian Sun should be coming out soon and I don't want to get burnt. Lastly Essie recently got introduced into Australia so I bought two nail polishes from their range which was rather small as Australia is only selling their top colours.

I'll film a review later of all the things I bought on Friday and post it up after I've used them for sometime and have enough information for you. For now I can say that I'm very happy with all the freebies I got! Hope you're all well and I'll talk to you next time. If you haven't done so, check out my YouTube channel; http://www.youtube.com/user/MeowSally !

My Updated Fitness Routine!

Hi all, Julsie here!

If you follow me on Pinterest, you'll have noticed that I've been pinning a lot on my Fitness board! That is because I have been on a crazy health kick recently. Since I start university in a month, I wanted to get in shape and ring in the new school year feeling confident and looking great! Workouts are not just to "lose weight", but also for glowing skin, strong hair and nails. I wrote myself a little workout calender that's on the back of my bedroom door, with motivational sayings on each day, that I get to cross off every morning before I leave for my jog! This is just a part of my calender, it goes on up until the end of my summer holidays!

I used to focus my workouts on losing weight, and saw each workout as a chore, and each meal to be a burden. But, it just left me feeling miserable. Until I found Youtube and Pinterest, I pretty much hated sport.

Pinterest has fun little workout circuits under the "Health and Fitness" category, as well as healthy meal ideas,  cute workout clothes and girls with amazing bodies! I actually like scrolling through it before I workout for a little extra motivation.

Pastel coloured workout outfits <3

How cute are these shoes!

Also, I really like watching Youtube personal trainers, such as Cassey Ho of Blogilates and Karena and Katrina from Tone It Up. They're what I go to for my "Pilates" section of my calendar, or if I'm on a Yoga day and feel like doing an extra workout, I'll choose one of their videos for targeted toning! I This is one of my favourite toning videos, Victoria's Secret Supermodel Stiletto Legs workout from Blogilates, I get to wear heels to workout!

My goal is to lead a healthier life, but I'm not trying to lose weight drastically, I just have some fat that I want to live without! The most important part of maintaining a fitness routine is to make sure that you can survive that way! So don't go skipping meals and living on a liquid diet and denying yourself a little square of chocolate every now and then! I can't live without my chocolate and ice cream, but a good balance is key!

The Nerdy Life of LittleMissJuliana

Some of you may know, if you follow my twitter @MissJulianaYu (insert shamless plug here lol) that I'm also really nerdy. As of recently, I've taken up a few languages. I've always wanted to be fluent in 5 foreign languages before I turn 25, that is, excluding English and Mandarin. Since going to school in Australia, I've picked up Italian, and even though I've only learnt it for twoish years, I've kept at it by watching Italian cartoons and beauty vloggers, listening to Italian songs, as well reading Cosmo magazine in Italian (so my parents won't be able to read the raunchy cover lol double whammy!)

As of now, I've taken French, German, Russian and Spanish, as well as brushing up my Italian properly. Since learning these European languages aren't exactly popular amongst Hong-Kongers, I've got to self-teach with language books, textbooks, and the online community of internet tutors.

And yes, that means I do two to three hours a day on weekdays, one hour on Saturday and Sunday, and I give myself weekly unit tests and dictations. Even if I've graduated high school. Even if it's my summer holidays. Hopefully, by the end of all this, I'll be fluent in 7 languages- English, Mandarin, French, German, Russian, Spanish and Italian.

Studying is actually so fun when there's nice stationary involved. Back in high school in Australia, everyone would rip out nice posters or pretty advertisements from magazines to cover a plain notebook.

I like colour-coding my notes as well. It's scientifically proven that it could help jog your memory when it comes to tests and recalling vocab.

Also, I've set my alarm clock to a song called "Buenos Días" ("Good Morning" in Spanish) and it's so incredibly cute. I find myself singing along as I get out of bed.

During my high school years, watching beauty videos on Youtube in any other language except English was my way of procrastination, but I didn't realise that I could actually pursue this hobby as a career. So, I'm about to major in Translation for university at the start of September. How exciting! I could go on a student exchange program for a year, as well as work in any department practically anywhere in the world after I graduate. The fate of an international student.

PUPA Silk Touch Foundation Review

I promised myself that I was going to stop buying makeup for a little while, since I'm on my summer holidays and probably won't be going out much.
But of course my little nagging conscience came up with every possible excuse as soon as I walked into a makeup pharmacy.
Behold! A new foundation :)

Luckily, it wasn't much of a damage to my wallet. At only HK$78 ($74 with a student discount! Scoreeee!) I got myself the PUPA Silk Touch Foundation. I first heard about the Italian brand PUPA when I was youtube-surfing through some Italian beauty vloggers. I only just got a teensy bit excited when I found the brand at my local pharmacy! The people who worked there thought I was a bit crazy.

The product info at the back claimed it was a 2-in-1 foundation; as moisturising as a fluid, and as matte (and luminous!) as a face powder. With 30mL of medium to high coverage product and being hypoallergenic and dermatologically tested, I thought I might give it a go!

First of all, I have normal skin, but it tends to be a bit oily during the hot and humid months of Hong Kong. I love how this is a light, creme to powder finish, so I could skip my powder when I use this. My biggest skin insecurity is my acne scarring. There was a time in my life where I really didn't care for the well-being of my skin, and left behind some awful marks. But, this foundation has amazing coverage, and is definitely build-able. It has "un innovativo elastomero siliconico" (innovative soft-touch silicon) which means that it can help shrink the appearance of pores, as well as help the foundation smooth onto the skin. The creme to powder finish also makes it really long wearing, so this product is basically the combination of a primer, concealer, foundation and powder.
I'm flabbergasted.

It reminds me of the European equivalent of the Asian BB cream. But, my skin has never been compatible with BB creams, they just tend to sit a bit uncomfortably on the surface of my skin.
But, this foundation does what the product info says- it blends into the skin and "senza effeto maschera" (without a mask-like effect).
The pharmacy that I bought this in only had the shade 02, which I was skeptical about, but it blends perfectly into my NC15-NC20 skin tone.

The PUPA Silk Touch Foundation really reminded me of the Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation that I sampled from the makeup counter a while ago, but without the hefty price tag. It's definitely worth purchasing and sampling for yourself.
I'm still gaping into my mirror, speechless, at the flawlessness of this foundation.
